Safety Recognition

Since 2004, McDonald York has been a proud member of the North Carolina Department of Labor (NCDOL) Building Star Program. The Building Star program recognizes contractors that display outstanding safety performance by establishing and maintaining a safe workplace. McDonald York’s current EMR of 0.77 is a result of management’s commitment to safety through visible leadership, engaging employees at all levels, empowering employees to address safety concerns, and utilizing the most sophisticated, user friendly software to share safety data in real time with all team members. We partner with subcontractors who share our safety values and visibly demonstrate those values everyday.

Our teams can easily access the information they need in real time and on any device. This means greater teamwork, better communication, and a safer job. Meet Our Environmental Health & Safety Director

Our full-time Environmental Health & Safety Director, Chris McGee, is responsible for establishing company safety policies, implementing project-specific safety programs, and fostering McDonald York’s outstanding safety culture. Chris has a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Health with two professional certifications through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals – CSP (Certified Safety Professional) and CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician). In his two decades of construction and safety experience, Chris has developed an established record and reputation of working with teams, subcontractors, executives, clients, etc. to ensure the safest job sites possible.
