We are committed to assisting our clients in meeting their sustainability objectives and operating every aspect of our own business efficiently, waste-free and with the environment as a primary concern. Sustainability is good for the environment, our owners' business operations, and McDonald York.
With a number of green buildings completed and more than 26% of our staff having achieved LEED©-accreditation, we are experienced in sustainable construction practices. We bring the expertise required to guide clients through the green building process. From inception to completion, our team has repeatedly demonstrated the value of having knowledgeable resources available, beginning with early cost comparison and selection of sustainable materials all the way through construction and LEED© certification. Our LEED©-accredited professionals implement low and no-cost sustainable building principles on our projects even if our clients choose to forgo formal LEED© certification.
Our team works with owners and design partners to determine appropriate sustainable strategies. We advocate active and passive sustainable strategies that bring long-term value in terms of both operations and user enjoyment - value such as reduced energy and operating costs, brand advantages, enhanced real estate and human performance, and an overall higher quality of life.
Our discussions center on initial costs vs. long-term payback. Our team will assess each design solution and building system in terms of first cost and operating cost. We seek economies of scale to achieve maximum operational efficiency. From our perspective, a sustainble building should be cost effective with little or no cost premium.
