Assistant Project Superintendent
Our Assistant Project Superintendent coordinates field operations for specific areas and/or specific self-performed and subcontracted trades on a project. Assistant Project Superintendents ensure that construction work is completed according to a project's planned sequence and schedule, and implement and enforce pertinent safety and quality control procedures. Qualifications include field supervisory experience and commercial and/or institutional construction experience.
Project Superintendent
Our Project Superintendents oversee all field operations on a project to ensure the self-performed and subcontracted trade work is in compliance with contract documents and the project schedule. Project Superintendents also implement and enforce safety and quality control policies among McDonald York employees and subcontractors. Qualifications include experience constructing major commercial and/or institutional projects.
Project Engineer
Project Engineers gain hands on exposure to field and project management operations during all phases of construction. From budgeting and schedule to financial management and client service, Project Engineers gain valuable experience learning how to build a project from start to finish. Our Project Engineers also perform essential project management tasks such as updating the schedule, processing submittals, participating in procurement, and coordinating subcontractors. This position is a stepping stone for a career in either project management or field operations. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in construction engineering or a related field.
Project Manager
Our Project Managers are the point-people in charge of the business aspects of our construction projects. This involves supervising contract activities on a particular jobsite, communicating with the owner and architect, and managing finance, procurement, budgeting, and schedule for the project. Qualifications included a bachelor's degree in construction engineering, or a related field and applicable experience.
Foreman
Our Foremen lay the groundwork for all of our projects and coordinate the "nuts and bolts" of work on site. Responsibilities include performing layout for the building and site, reading drawings, completing computations, and coordinating subcontractor work on jobsites. Construction experience is preferred in commercial and/or institutional projects.
Craft Group Manager
The role of the Craft Group Manager is to manage, lead, direct and perform the day to day activities of the Craft Group. The Craft Group Manager is responsible for attaining short and long-term financial and operational goals of the Craft Group and is responsible for hiring, employee development, goal setting and performance appraisals of direct reports. He/ She is responsible for sales and obtaining work and also performs craftsmen duties as they continue to manage projects. The Craft Group Manager works with the estimating department in providing accurate cost estimates for self-performance scopes and performing the work within budget. He/She is responsible for ensuring that all necessary materials, tools, equipment and labor are provided to the team. Ensuring workplace safety and the highest level of quality are expected. The Craft Group Manager ensures that the image and perception of McDonald York remains professional. Qualifications include experience in the industry.
Craftsman
The Craftsman's focus is on basic carpentry and labor intensive construction tasks, jobs and projects. They build, rebuild, repair, install, modify, and maintain all basic construction duties on the jobsite. They take direction from and assist both the Foreman and the Project Superintendent in order to complete their part of the project on time, safely and with the highest quality possible. Craftsmen must work in a team environment in order to meet project and client objectives, possess a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, and pride in their work.
Laborers
A Laborer's focus is on basic labor intensive construction tasks, jobs and projects. They take direction from and assist Craftsmen, Foremen and the Superintendent in order to complete their part of the project on time, safely and with the highest quality possible. They must adhere to industry standards and safety regulations. A Laborer must work in a team environment in order to meet project and client objectives, possess a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, and pride in their work.
